Educational Qualifications

Dr. Rosina Thomas completed her M.B.B.S. at the Academy of Medical Sciences in Pariyaram, Kannur. She then pursued an MS in Ophthalmology from St John’s National Institute of Health Sciences in Bangalore. To further refine her expertise, she undertook a long-term Anterior Segment fellowship at Giridhar Eye Institute in Kochi. Additionally, she holds a Diploma in Community Eye Health from the University of Hyderabad.

Specialisation

She specializes in cataract surgery and community ophthalmology, with a strong focus on both surgical management of cataracts and addressing public health issues related to eye care.

Work Experience

She has previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore. Currently, she works as a Consultant in the Department of Cataract and Glaucoma services at Giridhar Eye Institute, Kochi, a position she has held since 2011. She also leads the Department of Community Ophthalmology at the institute.

Publications

Dr. Rosina Thomas has participated in and presented papers at numerous national and state-level ophthalmology meetings.

Achievements

Her accomplishments include receiving the J S Mahashabde National Award for the Best Paper in Community and Social Ophthalmology by the All India Ophthalmological Society in 2018, and winning the Dr. K.C. Sankara Menon Best Paper Award by the Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons in 2016.
